About

I am a visual arts teacher living in North Western Ontario.  I wanted to try to challenge myself by beginning a blog that would keep me accountable as I begin a new semester.  My goal is to try new activities in the classroom in order to refresh my learning environment, but I don’t want to limit the changes to projects.  Ideally, my interest in new resources such as podcasts, blogging, virtual tours and even online portfolios will spark the beginning of a metamorphosis in my curriculum design.

Hopefully these changes will benefit my students, whose educational experiences can oftentimes determine whether or not they will invest in their schooling… and themselves.

**Guiding questions:  If I was a student in my class, what would I need?  What would my experience be like?

Fabulous philosophy! I would hope more teachers in this board will realize what you are doing and try it out for themselves!

    Dear Colleen,

My name is Bas van Peijpe and gladly I would like to take this oportunity to introduce my artblog The White Rabbit. The idea behind this blog is to provide a fun and easy way for all ages to discover the wonders of contemporary visual art. Instead of images of art, you’ll only find a picture of the White Rabbit. Once you click it, he will lead you to ‘Wonderland’, a selection of playful and inspiring artworks. You can find my blog here:

I hope you like the idea and content and if so, maybe you would consider introducing my blog to your readers?

    Kind Regards,
    Bas van Peijpe

  7. Hello Northern Art Teacher,

My name is Andrew Pinchefsky, I represent a publishing house, and one of the images you used in the blog “Students Respond to the Refugee Crisis Through Art” from Sep 23, 2015, specifically the drawing by Thomas, Hayden, Joel, Cayden, and Isaiah was pointed out by one of authors to use on the cover of one of our upcoming books. We were wondering how to contact you to obtain permission as well as a high resolution digital file. The authors of the book would also be interested in discussing with you the topic of their book. My email is below, and I look forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks
    Andrew
